Kurt Gunnell

For the past fifteen years Kurt has worked in higher education at both the state and institutional levels of policy and data management. Kurt has presented at regional and national conferences on various topics such as distance education, transfer students, and federal data reporting. In his current role, he works with the faculty and academic administration in the management, delivery, and reporting-out of the competency-based model of this institution. Kurt has been involved with several state-based and foundation-sponsored grants and projects analyzing student outcomes in competency-based education. Additionally, he has held adjunct faculty positions at several private and public universities.

Suzanne Marks

Suzanne’s teaching background includes classroom teaching and online education in the Business Technology, Business Management and Tech Support programs. Suzanne developed a highly successful competency based education project in coordination with the Gates Foundation and Western Governors University (WGU). Suzanne is considered a national thought leader in competency based education. She served as interim vice president of workforce development at Bellevue College and was the project manager for the NSF-sponsored IT skill standards at the National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) at Bellevue College. Prior to entering the teaching field, Suzanne spent ten years working in corporate human resources at Burlington Northern and Coopers & Lybrand. She holds a BA in Business Education from Washington State University.

James (Jim) Cubit

Jim has been in his current position since 1996. Prior to that he served as assistant college librarian at Williams College. His professional activities include service on the board of the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO), and on committees and advisory boards for the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI), the Midwest Instructional Technology Center, and the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE).

Robert M. Johnson

Bob oversees ITS, library, and institutional research, as well as student affairs. This union of support for student services and information services has offered the potential for the rapid replication of successful service processes and project management structures. It has also contributed to the alignment of the business and technology planning functions, especially in times of transformation and cultural upheaval. Bob has previously held the CIO position at Belmont University (Nashville, TN).

Josh Azer

Josh Azer is entering his fourth year as the Associate Director of the Orange and Blue Club. Azer will oversee the College’s athletic fundraising initiatives as well as the Orange and Blue Club’s signature events which include the Hall of Athletic Honor Ceremony and the Gettysburg College Golf Classic. Recently, Azer was promoted to an Assistant Athletic Director. Prior to Gettysburg College, Azer served as the Coordinator of Club Sports and Recreational Programs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He oversaw 25 club sport programs and managed a budget of over $130,000 at UMBC. Azer was also instrumental in developing a portfolio for each club team in order to generate revenue for the club sport programs. Azer’s experience includes time as a Corporate Sales Manager with Front Row Marketing in Trenton, New Jersey. He also served as a Game Day Operations intern with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League in 2007 and 2008. Azer received his bachelor’s degree in sports management from the State University of New York at Cortland and he has a master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University.

David Wright

After 16 years as a coach and administrator at Gettysburg, David Wright assumed the role of Director of Athletics on June 1, 2002. Since that time, the Bullet athletic program has reached new heights in its athletic tradition, including the construction of The John F. Jaeger Center for Athletics, Recreation and Fitness which opened its doors in the fall of 2009. Wright was promoted to an Assistant Vice President in 2011. At Gettysburg, Wright provides leadership and mentoring on the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Greek Life Evaluation Team, the Campus Safety Committee, Brand and Marketing, and the Title IX and Clery Compliance Task Force. He also chairs committees pertaining to retention and student leadership development along with serving on the enrollment management committee. Currently he teaches in the first-year seminar program at Gettysburg. His professional affiliations include former chair of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Men’s Soccer Rankings Committee, and membership in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) as well as The National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs (NCLP). Pamela Lucas Rew, FAIA

Andrew T. Phillips

Mr. Phillips joined JLL in May 2015 as a Vice President with the Public Institutions group. Located in San Diego, CA, he provides real estate development, financial and market analysis, and neighborhood revitalization advisory services to public sector and higher education clients in the western United States. He currently performs analysis on alternative public and private financing mechanisms, assists in the solicitation of development partners, negotiates public-private partnerships, reviews and analyzes legal documents, financial reports and operating plans. Mr. Phillips is currently assisting on an engagement for the Port of San Diego in the development of 530-acres of waterfront development in the City of Chula Vista, which is anticipated to encompass thousands of hotel rooms, convention space, hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail and commercial space as well as parks and promenades. Other assignments include a campus financing and development strategy for California State University Channel Island. His work with the University explores public-private partnerships to maximize land value and create revenues and capital funding to quickly develop new or expand existing university facilities. Susan L. Wheeler

Prior to becoming the University Counsel and Special Assistant Attorney General, Ms. Wheeler served as Policy and Legal Affairs Advisor at James Madison University. She was an Associate General Counsel, University Counsel, and Interim General Counsel at the University of Houston System. She also served as a briefing attorney and research attorney for the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. Ms. Wheeler has presented at various higher education law conferences, including those sponsored by the NACUA, the Stetson University College of Law’s Annual Conference on Law and Higher Education, the Texas Association of State University Attorneys, the University of Houston’s Institute of Higher Education Law and Governance, and the University of North Texas’s Higher Education Law Conference. She has served on numerous NACUA committees, and as a member of the Board of Directors of NACUA.

Stanton Green

During his 20 years as a former Dean at Monmouth University and Clarion University, Stan has created and implemented university programs that connect academic curricula with career preparation at the undergraduate and graduate level. He gives talks and workshops throughout the United States at universities and career services and academic professional conferences that cross divisional boundaries on how the competencies employers seek in their new employees are embedded in rigorous liberal arts programs and the practical ways to link faculty with career services staff in order to build this connection into professional and curricula development. He is a middle states reviewer and academic department consultant. His anthropological scholarship focuses on generational culture change and higher education and is the author of over 30 major articles and two edited volumes in Anthropology.
