Daniel Fusch

Daniel provided strategic direction and content for AI’s electronic publication Higher Ed Impact, including market research and interviews with leading subject matter experts on critical issues. Since the publication’s launch in 2009, Daniel has written or edited more than 500 articles on strategic issues ranging from student recruitment and retention to development and capital planning.

Kevin Kientz, CFO, Academic Impressions

Kevin has been working in the higher education industry for more than 20 years. He joined Academic Impressions in 2004 as the company’s first full-time employee. Kevin holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance and a master’s degree in Economics. In 2013-14, Kevin led the research and initial implementation of Academic Impressions’ first Online All-Access membership, higher education’s premier annual membership for professional development and training. As CFO, Kevin is responsible for AI’s financial strategy and helping to coordinate AI’s resources. He also supports the data analytics efforts for AI and is responsible for providing analysis for many of AI’s internal and external projects. Kevin is an avid Denver Nuggets fan and enjoys watching games with his two children. A lifelong learner, Kevin uses his spare time to solve riddles or read about surprising findings in behavioral economics and applied math.

Alan S. Hejnal

An advancement professional for twenty-five years, Alan brings extensive experience to the subject of standards related to records management, gift recording and receipting, and reporting. Until recently he directed records management processes and data for the University of Oregon Foundation. Previously affiliated with institutions such as Claremont Graduate University, DePaul University, Marquette University, Gettysburg College, and the University of Richmond, he has managed efforts in gift processing, demographic data, reporting, and prospect research, has served as the liaison between advancement and information services, and has managed the implementation of advancement systems. A regular conference speaker, Alan is the author of two chapters in the second edition of the CASE book, Advancement Services: A Foundation for Fundraising, and is a member of the Association of Advancement Services Professionals’ Committee on Best Practices in Records Management.

Larry Goldstein

Larry’s consulting interests cover a wide range of topics, including higher education budgeting, strategic planning, accounting, and finance. He writes and speaks frequently on these topics. He is the author of A Guide to College and University Budgeting: Foundations for Institutional Effectiveness and has co-authored several publications including Presidential Transitions: It’s Not Just the Position, It’s the Transition. Immediately prior to establishing Campus Strategies, LLC, Larry served as senior vice president and treasurer of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). He joined NACUBO after spending twenty years in higher education financial administration. In his last campus position, he served as the University of Louisville’s chief financial officer. Before that, he held administrative appointments with the University of Chicago, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of Virginia.

Jeff Mavros

Jeff recently transitioned to his new position at ISU where he oversees their admissions efforts. Previously, Jeff assumed leadership of Illinois Wesleyan University’s annual giving program and developing the “All in For Wesleyan” day of giving, working primarily with young alumni to increase their overall participation. He also held the role of assistant director of the annual fund, where he managed the university’s parent fundraising effort, as well as its senior gift campaign and student philanthropy education program.

Jim M. Langley

Before forming his own comprehensive advancement consulting firm, Jim served as vice president for advancement at Georgetown University. At Georgetown, he led the institution’s offices of alumni affairs, strategic communications and marketing, development, medical center development, and advancement services. During his tenure, he produced record numbers in new commitments and dollars. He also launched a number of innovative programs, including the acclaimed Student Discovery Initiative. Jim arrived at Georgetown after spending eight years as the vice president for advancement at the University of California, San Diego. At UCSD, he led the planning and execution of the institution’s seven-year $1 billion campaign, then raised almost half the target amount in three years. Jim also previously served as vice president for external affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology, increasing annual gift income from $26 million to $76 million and more than tripling the institution’s endowment to well over $500 million. Operations under his management have won awards in virtually every area of university advancement.

John Leedock, Jr.

John works with the Faculty and Student Affairs offices to promote globalization of the co-curricular aspects of student education at Knox College. He regularly works with various university offices to enhance traditional student services to support the unique needs of immigrant and non-immigrant students. In addition to his administrative work, John developed and teaches a course designed to support the individual acculturation and integration processes of international students, scholars, and their dependents. Outside of the office, he volunteers with the South Suburban Immigrant Project in Southwest Suburban Chicago, which provides integration and legal counseling for local immigrants and non-immigrants. John also conducts research on international student, refugee, and immigrant acculturation in Chicago.

Anat Levtov

Anat Levtov served as the assistant director for programs in the International Student Services and Activities (ISSA) office at the University of Notre Dame until August 2011. In this role, she oversaw ISSA’s cultural programming efforts, advised the International Ambassador peer leadership program, and coordinated international student orientation for students, parents, and spouses. Anat grew up as a “third culture kid,” attending international schools in five countries on three different continents, and still holds her Israeli citizenship. She completed her undergraduate degree in anthropology and psychology at Dartmouth College and holds masters degrees from the University of Vermont (higher education and student affairs) and the University of Michigan (higher education, with a focus on research, evaluation, and assessment). She previously worked in residence life and admissions in the United States and abroad. She is particularly interested in the transition process for traditionally-aged first year students.

Chrissy Roth-Francis

Chrissy oversees transitional services for new undergraduate students at UC Berkeley, including Cal Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and the overnight housing program for admitted students. Chrissy spent six years at the University of Southern California where she was responsible for coordinating international student orientation for more than 2,000 students each year as well as overseeing orientations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Chrissy created and managed “The United States: An American Culture Series,” where USC staff members and graduate students teach new international students about American ways and values throughout their first semester. Chrissy received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, her master’s degree in higher education from New York University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from USC. She is an active member of NODA- Association for Orientation, Transition and Retention in Higher Education, and is the co-founder of the International Student Orientation Network.

Keenan Andrews

Dr. Andrews currently provides retention consulting to community colleges. With 10 years of experience for all research, planning, and evaluation of retention initiatives and predictive modeling at Harold Washington College, Keenan is an expert in statistical analysis and teaching statistical methods.
