Dawn White

Dawn has worked at Miami University for 17 years and is responsible for management of their One Stop, which opened in the fall of 2014. The One Stop answers questions and provides problem resolution for the Miami University community in the area of registration, enrollment, financial assistance, student records, billing, and payment. One Stop services are available on-line, phone and in-person. Prior to working for the One Stop, Dawn worked for 6 years as a Manager of Gifts and Records in University Advancement and 9 years in Student Financial Assistance where her positions included Financial Assistance Counselor, Assistant Director for Counseling, Assistant Director of Loans and Assistant Director of Scholarships. Having experience in financial assistance has given invaluable insights to her current position within the One Stop.

Walt Gmelch

As an educator, management consultant, university administrator, and former business executive, Walt has conducted research and written extensively on the topics of leadership, team development, conflict, and stress and time management. He has published over two hundred articles, twenty-four books and monographs, and numerous scholarly papers in national and international journals. Today, Walt is one of the leading researchers in the study of academic leaders in higher education, serving on the editorial board of several journals, including The Department Chair, International Journal of Leadership and Change, Academic Leadership, and the Center for Academic Leadership Newsletter. He has directed two national studies of 1,600 university department chairs in the United States, one study of 1,580 Australian department heads, another investigation of 1,000 community college chairs, and an international study of 2,000 academic deans in Australia and America. . In 2016 a new study was launched of 900 department chairs across institutional type and disciplines within the United States. Dr. Alycia Marshall

Dr. Alycia Marshall holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland College Park, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bowie State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Her teaching experience includes three years of high school mathematics and 18 years of college-level mathematics. She also spent five years as the Department Chair of Mathematics at AACC, supervising up to 30 full-time and 90 part-time mathematics faculty. Marshall is one of the Charles A. Dana Center’s Mathematics Pathways Leadership Fellows and has been awarded the Verizon Community Innovator Award (2013), the 2015 INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine’s “100 Inspiring Women in Stem Award,” a National Faculty Role Model Award presented by Minority Access Inc. (2015), and the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award from the League of Innovation (2017). She was the Principal Investigator and founder of the Engineering Scholars Program at AACC. She is also a member of the Strong Start to Finish (SSTF) Expert Advisory/Knowledge Management Board, in association with the Education Commission of the States, and a member of the Mathematics Advisory Group (MAG) for TPSE (Transforming Post-Secondary Education).

Teri Yanovitch

Teri Yanovitch has been on the frontline of the customer experience for more than three decades. Teri works with higher education institutions to enhance the student experience and staff experience by delivering excellent service both internally and externally. Colleges and universities have called upon her expertise and knowledge of how to deliver a seamless experience of excellent service to improve student success and student retention. She has been a keynote speaker for national and regional CUPA-HR, NACUBO, SACUBO, COBA, and many other higher ed institution associations. Brent Shock

As Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Student Financial Services, Brent Shock provides leadership to the offices of Student Financial Assistance and the Bursar. In addition to ensuring compliance with the awarding of federal, state, and University aid programs, he works closely with EMSS senior leadership to ensure that enrollment and student persistence goals for the University are met. Shock began his career in Miami’s financial aid office in 1992 and served as counselor, assistant director for student employment, and associate and senior associate director of systems prior to becoming director in 2011. Shock maintains active participation in the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) and has served on two national task force committees.

Sarah Collins

Sarah graduated with a B.S. in Education from Kansas State University in 1995 and started her career teaching in the primary grades, while taking on leadership roles that advanced funding for technology innovation. Sarah joined Ad Astra in 1999 and led the company’s work in education, training, and implementation. She later became a Process Consultant for hundreds of colleges and universities, where she focused on best practices in scheduling and resource allocation. She then moved into serving as a Product Manager, bridging industry needs and solutions. Sarah has played an integral role in product advancement and new market development for Ad Astra software and services. Today, Sarah conducts industry presentations on best practices and insights from Ad Astra’s Higher Education Scheduling Index (HESI). She also works to form partnerships with institutions, state education systems, and state leaders to advance our country’s goal for higher-education attainment while focusing on the way we allocate and manage academic resources. Sarah drives to measure the correlation between better course scheduling and moving the needle — one student, one campus, at a time — toward our national goal of degree attainment and affordability.

Meg Hendryx

Meg supervises the team responsible for comprehensive activities and management of fund development, as well as marketing and communications for the college. Working alongside the college and university leadership, Meg worked with Dr. and Mrs. Wertheim and the Wertheim Family Foundation to secure the university’s largest transformational cash gift of $50M and establish a $300M investment pool and campaign for the college, the Wertheim Transformation. Meg serves as an Executive Committee Board Member of the Engineering Development Forum as well as served as chair of the Nursing Advancement Professionals board. She has spoken routinely at advancement professionals conferences on a range of topics from high level donor engagement, cultivation and major gifts to enhancing and advancing advisory boards. Prior to joining the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, she served as Director of Development for the UF College of Nursing and UF Health. Meg’s early work includes roles in development for the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra along with art direction and sales in the publishing industry.

M. Lynn Breyfogle

Dr. Lynn Breyfogle, Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences, has more than 15 years of higher education experience. She earned a Bachelors in Mathematics from Hope College in Holland, MI. After teaching high school mathematics for six years in Michigan and Wyoming, she earned a Master’s and PhD in Mathematics Education at Western Michigan University. Her teaching appointment at Bucknell included all mathematics teacher education courses for K-5 certification, secondary mathematics methods for 7-12 certification, and introductory level Calculus. She earned tenure and full professor rank in the mathematics department at Bucknell University. In her current position, she serves as the academic associate dean for all first- and second-year students in the College of Arts & Sciences, where she has primary responsibility for all academic matters related to students including academic advising, retention, and overseeing the implementation of the general education curriculum. Dr. Breyfogle is a Co-PI for a National Science Foundation STEP grant called STEM Scholars, which supports a cohort of entering first-year students to work with a research mentor for 5-weeks in the summer before matriculating and then a second 10-week summer research in a later summer. Stephanie A. Cook

Stephanie Cook leads the Tristate regional advancement team for Syracuse University—working from Lubin House—the University’s home base located in the heart of Manhattan. Her team is charged with building relationships with and securing philanthropic support from alumni, parents, and friends to ensure the future of Syracuse University. She serves as the University’s lead fundraiser in the region and coordinates the overall regional advancement strategy with local colleagues as well as those based on campus. Prior to joining Syracuse University she worked in a similar capacity for Villanova University, where she built the regional advancement program for Villanova in the Tristate and was instrumental in the expansion of the University’s regional advancement efforts in Boston, Chicago, DC, and on the west coast. She has also served as a major gifts officer for Columbia University and the Wildlife Conservation Society as well as supported the fundraising efforts of the Central Park Conservancy. She is a native of Madison, Wisconsin and holds a BFA from the University of Kentucky in theatre and an MS from Columbia University in fundraising and non-profit management.

Laura Ericson

Laura has worked at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for over 8 years in various support staff, faculty, and leadership positions, giving her a vast overview of different roles within the technical college system and two-year colleges. In her current role, she oversees the daily operations of Student Central, CVTC’s one-stop enrollment services department, which supports the areas admissions, registration & records, financial aid, student accounts, academic advising, & assessment. Her center has been in operation since 2009, but their second expansion phase is currently being implemented, offering a unique perspective to those interested in planning for future growth of their own center. Laura’s passions within her role in the one-stop are focused on team building, social media, technology, diversity, process improvement, leadership, and employee engagement and development. Laura received her undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University in Spanish and Psychology, graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Career and Technical Education, and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification from Canterbury English in Madrid, Spain.
