Lisa has worked at the University of Colorado for almost eight years with a focus on employer relations and internship program development. Prior to working for the university, Lisa was a recruiter and internship program manager for multiple for-profit organizations. Her experience on the corporate side brings a unique perspective to university recruiting because she knows how to link employers’ wants to student and alumni needs.
David Flinchbaugh has served at the University of Maryland, Baltimore since 2007. As assistant to the vice president, he spearheads efforts to streamline alumni engagement efforts across the University of Maryland system. As associate dean, he is part of the team that coordinates the school’s engagement strategy to assure alumni, friends and donors are actively connected to the school. At the School of Social Work, he oversees a team that raises private funds for the school from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations. Flinchbaugh has led efforts that tripled the annual private funding at the school, and has grown the school’s total scholarship funds from five to over fifty; meanwhile, corporate and foundation giving to the school has risen six fold. Flinchbaugh served the CASE’s Commission on Alumni Relations, and has been a speaker at district and national CASE conferences. Previously, he served as executive director for alumni relations as Johns Hopkins and Bucknell Universities.
DeWayne Frazier currently serves as the President of the American University of Nigeria (AUN). As President, he serves as the CEO for the university operations and leads the institution. Founded in 2003, as the first American-style university south of the Sahara, AUN is Africa’s first “Development University” and currently has around 100 faculty members and undergraduate and graduate enrollment of approximately 1,500 students. Dr. Frazier came to AUN from Iowa Wesleyan University, where he served as the Provost for eight years. There, he oversaw diverse areas across campus, including student success, student development, academic affairs, international education, online programs, academic divisions, and the graduate school. Prior to joining Iowa Wesleyan, Dr. Frazier was the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School at Campbellsville University in Kentucky, where he oversaw 17 different graduate programs in various disciplines. Prior to his work at Iowa Wesleyan, Dr. Frazier served as the Senior Vice President for International Programs at Upper Iowa University (UIU). There, Dr. Frazier oversaw campus internationalization efforts, including the implementation of an international student recruitment plan and the growth of UIU’s academic extension centers abroad.
Dr. Paul Hofmann has served as the AVP for International Affairs at Fresno State since July 2012 and has more than 20 years experience in international education. From 2005-2012 he was the director of the Center for International Programs at Bowling Green State University where he had broad administrative oversight of international recruitment and admissions, international student and scholar services, the campus-based intensive English program, and study abroad. From 2003-2005, Hofmann served as the SEVIS Compliance Coordinator at San José State University. Prior to transitioning into higher education, Hofmann worked in the proprietary intensive English program sector. From 1996-2003 he served as Center Director of FLS Language Centers in Alhambra, California where he was responsible for delivering a comprehensive English language program to international students aspiring to gain admission into American colleges and universities. Dr. Hofmann has an extensive background in China and Asia. Michelle is the Director of International Admissions & Associate Director of Graduate Studies at Western New England University. She has worked in International Admissions/Education for the past 12 years starting at Catawba College in NC. Here she served as the primary DSO and worked with the students from the recruitment stage to graduation and their OPT experiences. Since 2005, Michelle has been working with undergraduate and graduate international students at WNE. She has participated in the strategic planning process for the growth of the international population, evaluated international credentials, and traveled extensively for the University. Michelle also serves on the International Programs Coordinating Counsel at WNEU which is a committee dedicated to internationalizing the campus. Outside of the office, she has served as the Chair of Study Massachusetts, is a member of NAFSA’s Trainer Corps, and serves on the Region XI Leadership Team. She holds a BA in Elementary Education (Catawba College) and a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration (Springfield College).
Over the past fifteen years, Richard has worked with a variety of U.S. and foreign institutions to increase international enrollment and yield through enhanced communication processes. Prior to joining UIC, he served as a communications specialist for EducationUSA, a global network of international student advising centers supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Richard holds a BA in communications from The Ohio State University and an MA in international relations from Webster University.
Anne has over thirteen years of experience assisting research universities and academic medical centers with reviewing and improving administrative operations, assessing their compliance with federal and other applicable regulations, and enhancing institutional compliance programs. Anne has assisted many universities in resolving compliance issues by supporting legal counsel during active audits or investigations, serving as expert witness, and calculating fair settlements based on data and proper regulatory interpretations.
Terrance L. Dixon is currently responsible for the areas of student recruitment and admission, financial aid, and records and registration. During his twenty years of experience in higher education, he has served as an admissions director at Morehouse College, as well as senior educational manager in higher education services for The College Board.
Karen L. Miller has served in numerous administrative positions within higher education, including academic dean at John Marshall Law School (Atlanta) and in several positions, including vice president and general counsel, vice president of administrative services and senior vice president of administration and chief of staff. In her current position, she is tasked with achieving operational excellence, focused on creating a signature workforce, engagements, and work environment.
Chuck Procknow joined George K. Bam & Company in April 2002. Mr. Procknow has built a national practice for focusing on the tax-exempt financing needs of independent elementary and secondary schools, institutions of higher education, healthcare and social services institutions, and biomedical research related institutions. During his career he has served as senior banker for over 300 tax-exempt bond issues for non-profit clients across the country. Mr. Procknow’s experience includes completing multiple financings for a range of higher education institutions. He has also structured transactions for private non-profit research institutions. Mr. Procknow’s client base includes some of the most established boarding schools nationally. Mr. Procknow has been quoted in The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Wall Street Journal, and The Bond Buyer. He has published articles in Independent School Magazine and Net Assets magazine, and has been a regular presenter at a range of industry conferences, including for National Business Officers Association (NBOA), National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), CASE/NAIS, and Association of Independent Research Institute (AIRI).
