Anna Krum has spent the last twenty-one years working in higher education at Thomas Edison State College. In her current position, Krum supports Thomas Edison State College students with daily phone and email contact, answering questions and resolving student issues. Additionally, Krum provides support and assistance to the LSC team members and provides leadership as needed. Prior to joining the Learner Support Center (LSC), Krum was a program assistant in the Office of the Registrar, where she coordinated the college’s four graduations and annual commencement ceremony. Anna has attended several customer service training conferences, most recently attending a Disney Institute conference to gain knowledge and tools to continue to improve on customer service at the College. In addition, Krum received the Thomas Edison State College “Brightest Light” award in July 2008, and again in November 2014. The college’s Brightest Light award recognizes and honors staff contribution and performance that consistently exceeds the duties of the position, while helping to brighten the environment of coworkers. Prior to her tenure at the college, Krum worked for the NJ Department of Higher Education and the NJ Department of Transportation.
Reporting directly to the president, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa serves as chief academic officer of the college and serves as the executive office in the president’s absence. Dr. Morrobel-Sosa works closely with the deans of five academic schools (arts and humanities, continuing and professional studies, education, health sciences, human services and nursing, and natural and social sciences), and vice presidents and associate provosts in the offices of enrollment management, academic programs, academic personnel, research and external support, international programs and global partnerships, institutional research, planning and assessment, and the library to promote the college’s academic vision across and beyond the campus, and contribute to building the institution’s academic reputation and national and international visibility. A native of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa has held prior faculty and administrative positions at University of Alabama, California Polytechnic State University, Georgia Southern University, and University of Texas at El Paso.
Chuck spent the first twenty years of his career in the commercial and investment banking sectors honing his financial analysis skills. In 2002, Chuck transitioned to a tenured faculty position teaching Finance to undergraduate students at Bethel University. He has a passion for the integration of strategic decision making, financial forecasting, and the allocation of financial resources to meet strategic objectives. For the last seven years, he has served as the Chair of the Department of Business and Economics, the largest, by enrollment, department at Bethel University. He has been a member of the Faculty Leadership Council, the Budget Committee, and has provided financial management insights and support to the Provost, fellow faculty members, and members of the Board of Trustees. Chuck earned his B.A. in Economics from Wheaton College and his M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
Albert Blixt is an expert on designing and implementing rapid strategic change in complex organizations. Mr. Blixt is a developer of the Whole-Scale® Change methodology. He has worked in the private, non-profit, government, and education sectors. His clients have included Fortune 100 companies, national nonprofits, federal agencies, and many colleges and universities. Mr. Blixt’s areas of expertise include strategic planning, leadership coaching, team development, training, and the facilitation of whole system change. Mr. Blixt is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and previously served as a professor in the College of Business at Eastern Michigan University. He is the author or co-author of three books on organizational change.
Laurence N. Smith is a founder and Senior Partner of New Campus Dynamics with 40 years experience as a senior university administrator and as a national leader in higher education. He is emeritus Vice President for University Marketing and Student Affairs at Eastern Michigan University and holds an honorary doctorate from that institution. He has been a leader in the innovation of effective enrollment management practices since the 1970’s. Among his extensive activities, he was founder and chair of the NASPA National Academy for Leadership and Executive Effectiveness and executive editor of NASPA’s on-line management magazine. He has also been on the national faculties of College Board, ACT and Noel/Levitz. Mr. Smith has achieved national recognition as a pioneer in marketing of non-profit and service institutions and organizations as well as for his work in executive development. He was an early leader in whole system change and transformational management for mobilizing institutions, communities and organizations for revitalization and renewal. Jessi joined Campus Life as the Director of Development in 2014. Prior to this position, she served as the Associate Director of Development for the Emory University School of Medicine. In her current role Jessi serves as the development liaison for the Division of Campus Life, guiding the alumni cultivation and outreach for athletic and student affairs focused fundraising. Prior to Emory, Jessi worked in development for the American Diabetes Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Tim is ultimately in the business of telling stories and connecting people with helpful information. He creates content for oswego.edu and various college social communication channels, works with professional and student videographers and coordinates SUNY Oswego’s YouTube channel. His large web projects include serving as chief writer and editor when Oswego moved to its first CMS, then playing key strategic and creative roles in two subsequent web migrations/sitewide redevelopments. He has presented previously for Academic Impressions, twice at Confab Higher Ed, multiple times at Canada’s post-secondary education web conference, regional Higher Ed Web conferences and SUNYCUAD conferences. He teaches a course in media writing at SUNY Oswego. He is also the chief editor for HighEdWeb’s Link: The Journal of Higher Education Web Professionals.
Dr. Behrens has nearly twenty-five years of higher education and private industry experience, and he holds a doctorate in higher education management from UCLA. After serving as a career counselor with the University of Arizona’s Career Center, Dr. Behrens was appointed the director of career services for Roosevelt University in Chicago. In 2006, he joined SMU in Dallas, where he is assistant vice president of student affairs, dean of residence life and student housing, and executive director of the Hegi Career Center and the community engagement and leadership departments. He currently oversees student conduct and community standards, oversees new student orientation, is a member of the VPSA’s emergency on-call rotation team, and serves as vice president in-absentia. Prior to his appointment at SMU, Dr. Behrens served nine years with Siemens as business development manager and director of university relations., where he developed $144M in new business in the K-16 vertical market. He earned the Siemens top+ Innovation Award for business solutions, the National Society for Experiential Educators Corporate Leader of the Year Award, as well as the Siemens Global Recruiting Best Practices Award. Some additional accomplishments include winning the University Business Magazine Models of Efficiency Award.
Jim has worked in student affairs and student housing for nearly forty years. For the last twenty-six years, he has been at the University of Miami serving as an assistant and associate director in housing, as well as director of the Toppel Career Center, prior to returning to his “roots” in housing in 2009. For the last two years Jim has led a housing facilities strategic planning process in collaboration with a team of outside consultants and a collaborative team from within the university. Their efforts have recently moved into the design and permitting for the first phase of a three-phase, $400 million housing renewal program.
Mary Bohlig has thirty years of experience in the field of collegiate recreation, serving at both private and public institutions. At the University of Utah, Mary has guided the department for the past seventeen years, including the advocacy, design and completion of the new Eccles Student Life Center, which opened in January, 2014. Mary is also responsible for administration of a department that includes forteen full-time staff and 170 student staff, intramural sports, outdoor adventures, sport clubs, fitness program, and facility management. Prior to arriving in Utah, Mary worked at both Illinois State University and Syracuse University.
