Van Miller has worked at Illinois Wesleyan since 2005, starting first in admissions before moving on to alumni relations and annual giving. Working to develop a vision for alumni engagement that can be embraced by the entire campus community, Van’s broad experience helps him identify opportunities for cross-department collaboration and partnerships. Specifically, Van manages the “All in for Wesleyan” day of giving campaign and IWU’s unique Giving Circle Scholarship program.
Araceli “Arci” Fleet is the space manager at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She is responsible for spatial reporting/accountability and she oversees the Space Information Resources Office, which is a department within Facilities Management. The Space Information Resources Office serves as the central repository for all space information on campus and they work to provide effective solutions for greater space utilization at UTEP. As a result of their robust database and strong data analysis, Arci and the Space Information Resources Office have been successful at partnering with other offices and departments on campus to successfully adopt new space policies that have increased their space usage and efficiency, as well as helping to educate campus customers on effective space management.
Amanda Vásquez’s research interests center on equal access to higher education for historically underrepresented student populations and sense of belonging for non-dominant groups on college campuses. She currently serves as senior director of Enrollment Services at UTEP, overseeing undergraduate admissions, registration and records, financial aid, and testing and assessment. Prior to this role, she served as associate registrar, overseeing academic scheduling, management of the course catalog, and office activities related to UTEP’s student information system. She also previously served as curriculum and academic reports coordinator in the Office of the Provost, managing selected accreditation reports, new program proposals, and curriculum revisions. In this role she served as a contact for internal and external units including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), The University of Texas System, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, UTEP’s Enrollment Services, and UTEP’s undergraduate studies.
In his role, Steven specializes in marketing, event planning, and brand development. He is known by his peers as an innovator in the area of marketing with his engagement marketing approach to recruiting students to enroll in summer courses. After he has recruited student’s to enroll in summer courses, he programs events like sno cones, concerts, and pool parties for students to enjoy while taking summer courses. Steven graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Electronic Media in 2010 and a master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education in 2012. He is an experienced public speaker and has shared his knowledge with thousands through a social media brand awareness program, Brand University. Over the course of six years, Steven Lee has planned hundreds of events that have impacted and influenced the University of Oklahoma and Norman, Oklahoma communities.
Prior to joining the Natural Resources Council of Maine, Mullen worked at Colby College for six years, overseeing 30%+ growth in the college’s overall annual fund for parents, led by senior parents who achieved a 50%+ participation level in their senior year. Previously, Matt worked at Sidwell Friends, an independent PK-12 school, in a variety of positions, and oversaw annual giving for parents and grandparents.
Laura has over twenty years of professional research experience and worked at the University of Colorado and Front Range Community College before coming to Colorado State University. She is committed to helping the institution better understand issues surrounding student success, program evaluation, assessment, enrollment, faculty/staff, research, and operations. She serves on a variety of internal and external committees related to educational research, reporting, and data management.
Ruth A. Darling provides leadership for the Student Success Center, first-year studies and the Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships. Darling also coordinates the university’s academic advising program and campus tutoring/learning assistance programs. She participates in various institutional initiatives that focus on improving the undergraduate experience and student persistence to graduation. Darling serves as an adjunct assistant professor in the college student personnel program at UT and has presented at national meetings and conferences on student success. She serves as a consultant on various aspects of academic advising in higher education, student success and retention and is a past-president of the National Academic Advising Association.
Dr. Luna has served over twenty-six years in higher education, with fifteen of those years in institutional research. He has published research studies on many topics including assessment, quality improvement, salary studies and market research. Dr. Luna received his PhD and MA degrees in higher education administration and his MA and BA degrees in journalism, all from the University of Alabama.
Garret Moore has worked in campus law enforcement for twenty-six years, both at a large state research institution and at a small private college. Garret has conducted several serious crimes investigations including numerous sexual misconduct investigations. He has also conducted training for other campus law enforcement agencies in the area of sexual harassment. Committed to providing a victim-centered approach to serious crimes on his campus, Garret was instrumental in creating a civil rights model for investigating sexual misconduct and other violations on his campus. He is a trained Title IX investigator and has developed numerous campus advocates to assist in creating a campus environment that supports sexual assault survivors. He is a founding member of the Community Sexual Misconduct Awareness and Response Team (CSMART) and provides annual training to the campus Sexual Harassment and Rape Education group (SHARE) advocates, who are confidential resources trained to provide support and resources to victims of sexual assault on campus. Garret is a member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and past president of the Ohio Campus Law Enforcement Association (OCLEA).
Melissa represents management, college, and university clients in matters related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual discrimination. Her practice includes litigation in the areas of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C.A. § 1983, and Title IX of the Education Amendments, 20 U.S.C. § § 1681-1688, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation. She represents employers and educational institutions before state and federal courts, federal and state administrative agencies, arbitrators, and mediators. Outside the courtroom, Melissa assists businesses with internal reviews and audits, and represents individuals and corporations in threatened or pending white collar criminal investigations and cases. Before joining McGuireWoods, Melissa spent twelve years as an assistant state attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. She worked closely with federal and state law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Melissa has taught classes in trial advocacy and trial practice at Florida Coastal School of Law and continues to lecture to pre-law students at the University of North Florida. She continues to be recognized by Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite and Florida Super Lawyers.
