Jim Anderson

Jim oversees the Office of Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and New Student and Family Programs. In addition, Jim also serves as an Associate Consultant for Noel-Levitz focusing on short and long term strategic enrollment planning. Prior to joining Boise State University, Jim was Managing Director for Enrollment Planning and Information Services, and Associate Director of Student Financial Aid at Texas Tech University. Jim has notable expertise in: strategic enrollment planning, enrollment projection, financial aid leveraging, and territory management principles. Recent presentations include: Academic Impressions, American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Officers, Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and The College Board Regional Forum. Jim holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Texas Tech with an emphasis on Higher Education Administration.

Thomas W. Broadhead, Ph.D

Dr. Broadhead joined the faculty in Geology at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1978. In 1994 he was named director of the Honors Program, and undergraduate academic advancement director in Undergraduate Admissions in 2003. In addition to visiting and recruiting from select high schools, Dr. Broadhead’s primary responsibilities include developing recruitment and admission programs for high achieving students and international students as well as overseeing print and electronic communications, including online applications. He also chairs the recruitment programming committee and collaborates closely with other units across campus to ensure the university achieves its target yield and enrollment numbers annually.

Joel Kramer

Joel is currently in his seventh year as the Assignment Manager for UT Housing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In his role he oversees contracting, assignments, billing, occupancy management, commuter students, contract releases, and a number of other, smaller areas associated with those larger ones. Before coming to Knoxville, Joel was a residence hall director at SUNY Cortland and at University at Albany. During this time he also completed his master’s degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies. In addition to his duties at UT Housing, he also serves as the staff advisor for the Lambda Student Union and is a longstanding member of the Chancellor’s Commission for LGBT People.

Jen Richardson

Jen is responsible for the staff, programs, and facilities in Residence Life at The College of Saint Rose. She represents the area of Residence Life on a variety of campus committees including Admissions and Retention, Enrollment Management, Retention Program Support, Transfer Team, First Year Experience, Security/One Card Management, and Behavior Assessment Team. She also works closely with the Student Conduct Coordinator to make decisions regarding case management. She has also co-taught a course for first-year students who have not declared their major in their first semester. Jen earned a BA in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Nazareth College and an MA in Public Administration from Framingham State College. She previously worked at Ithaca College (NY).

Brian Stroup

Brian Stroup has worked in housing for the last seven years at Oregon State University. Brian is currently an assistant director of Operations and Facilities and previously was a resident director, area complex director, and operations manager for Housing Services and Residential Conferences. In Brian’s current role, he oversees family housing, service center desk operations, assignments, billing, conferences, emergency management, safety, budget, occupancy planning/projecting, homestay, and building services. Brian has been involved in the Northwest Association of College and University Housing Officers (NWACUHO) and is a previous newsletter editor for the association. He has also been involved in the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) through writing for the Talking Stick, the associations bi-monthly publication. Brian earned his master’s degree in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University.

Karyn Adams

Karyn joined HA ThirtyOne, a higher-education-focused design, strategy, and recruitment search firm, after nearly a decade inside higher education. As a past director of communications and an AVP for marketing & communications at Maryville College, Karyn has worked with all aspects of communications and marketing in higher education, including integrated marketing and institutional branding, enrollment initiatives, capital campaigns, website redesigns, and crisis communications. She has served as a presenter at the ACT Enrollment Planners Conference and NACAC.

Lori Croy

Since 1996, Lori Croy has been a strong and pioneering advocate of the Web in higher education. Her vision has guided MU’s Website from a small, underfunded endeavor to a major presence central to the recruitment, communication, and marketing efforts of the university. Lori manages a complex environment of multiple subsites, contributors and developers. A key part of her work is building collaborative relationships to provide a consistent, standards-compliant, user-centered experience. She has successfully managed the implementation of a content management system for a largely decentralized environment. In addition, Croy has launched Mizzou Wire, an online news and feature magazine; developed Mizzou’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign on the Web; supported @Mizzou, the university’s CASE gold-award-winning e-newsletter; and has led the campus in the use of social media. Lori is a frequent conference speaker, at events like the CASE Summer Institute for Communications and Marketing. She brings a wealth of hands-on experience, clear thinking, communication prowess, and a highly necessary and unfailing sense of humor.

Joshua D. Merchant

Josh has more than 14 years of development, alumni engagement, and marketing experience in higher education. Serving Albion since 2008, Josh oversees advancement and external marketing and communications functions at the college. During the 2011-12 academic year, he also served as interim vice president for enrollment management. He added a marketing division to the advancement team four years ago and successfully launched a comprehensive branding campaign, an integrated marketing approach and an innovative marketing program for the college. Prior to Albion, Merchant was assistant vice president of advancement at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan. Earlier in his career, he served in development roles at Central Michigan University and at Michigan State University. He holds a master’s degree in extension education from Michigan State University and is a PhD candidate in higher education leadership at Western Michigan University. He has presented at several national conferences on marketing and advancement topics, most recently at the ACT Enrollment Planners Conference and the American Marketing Association’s Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education in New Orleans, where he and his team were nominated as Higher Education Marketing Team of the Year.

Kat Walsh

As part of the University of Michigan’s five year initiative for creating a more vibrant campus, Ms. Walsh heads department-wide efforts toward implementing policies aimed at diversifying and creating more equitable opportunities for OUD staff, donors, and volunteers. Ms. Walsh also leads student philanthropy initiatives on the University of Michigan campus. This involves developing a culture of giving among Michigan students through outreach, education, and fundraising initiatives. As director of student engagement, Ms. Walsh designed and oversees the award-winning program designer for the Development Summer Internship Program (D-SIP) aimed at creating a pipeline of young, diverse talent into the fundraising profession. D-SIP introduces college students to fundraising as a career path through work placement in a fundraising office across the U-M campus, coursework for credit, and a rigorous professional development component. This program won the 2010 Detroit Crain’s Nonprofit Employer of the Year award for the state of Michigan and CASE’s 2008 Grand Gold and Gold Circle of Excellence awards for fundraising and collaborative programs respectively.

Harmonie Farrow

Harmonie joined the Office of Loyalty Giving at TCU in 2010 as the director of student and young alumni programs. In her current role, she oversees phonathon, student and young alumni philanthropy and digital philanthropy efforts. While at TCU, Harmonie developed and implemented FrogFunding, the University’s crowdfunding platform, TCU Gives Day and the Count Me In! student philanthropy program, a 2014 CASE gold award winner for both Annual Giving Programs and Best Practices in Fundraising. Harmonie presents nationally and internationally at conferences about student and young alumni engagement, especially as it pertains to philanthropic giving, volunteer management, gaining institutional buy-in and maximizing budgets. Prior to joining TCU, Harmonie served as a donor relations officer at Cornell University.
