Jack Ryan graduated from New York University with a B.A. in English, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Case Western Reserve University. Jack became a faculty member at Gettysburg College in 1994 in the Department of English, where he has been promoted through the academic ranks and has served as Department Chair. He has also served as Director of the College’s Interdisciplinary Studies Program, and currently serves as the Acting Chair of the Department of Education. Jack is the recipient of the Gettysburg College Thompson Award for Distinguished Teaching. He was appointed Vice Provost of the College in 2010.
Mr. Rozen is responsible for the vision and oversight for all financial matters for Corvias Group and its divisions, Corvias Campus Living and Picerne Military Housing. Mr. Rozen joined the company in 2004, and was previously responsible for all financial aspects of Picerne Military Housing’s 20,000+ unit portfolio, including the $1.4 billion in debt outstanding and $700 million in invested capital. His extensive institutional housing background includes the procurement and acquisition of nearly 17,000 units, raising more than $1 billion in private placement and municipal financing, and multiple restructurings and workouts. He has also worked as a Senior Vice President for a major real estate developer in Silicon Valley and as an institutional fixed income trader of municipal securities for Fidelity Investments. Mr. Rozen holds both a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Boston University with a concentration in Finance and was recognized in 2012 by the Providence Business News as a top “Forty under 40” executive. Mr. Trubiana served as senior vice president of development for EdR’s predecessor development company, from February 2005 until December 2006. He has been directly involved in the development and/or management of more than 100 collegiate housing communities, comprising more than 60,000 beds. He was a financial adviser to Eagle Strategies Corp. from June 2004 until rejoining EdR in February 2005. Mr. Trubiana served as CEO of American Campus Communities, Inc., from July 1997 until October 2003, presiding over an era of significant pre-initial public offering growth. He is the former senior vice president of management services for Cardinal/Lexford Realty Services. Mr. Trubiana began his career as an EdR resident assistant in 1972 and was promoted to general manager, regional manager and finally director of development before leaving in 1987.
Joshua’s research focus is on identity intersections of race, religion, and sexuality. Joshua is an alum of the Social Justice Training Institute and has presented regionally and nationally on topics such as media and marginality, queer people of color, multiracial student identity, intersections of religion and sexuality, and facilitating dialogues on diversity. Joshua is a trained diversity facilitator and serves as theNASPA Co-Chair for the MultiRacial Knowledge Community. He has numerous publications on topics such as multiracial student support and queer Asian Pacific Islander men as leaders in higher education. He just finished a book, Beyond Surviving: From Religious Oppression to Queer Activism that looks at intersections of religion and sexuality.
Dr. Jennifer Jones is currently an adjunct faculty at Minnesota State University, Mankato and works with colleges and universities with the implementation of early alert systems. Previously, Jennifer was a clinical assistant professor of higher education at the University of Alabama and also served as the director of academic retention at UA for three years. In that role, she evaluated student retention data to create, implement, and manage appropriate support programs for first-year students struggling to acclimate to campus life, primarily managing a Web-based retention program designed to engage first-year students in an online community and connect them with campus resources and information. Additionally, Jennifer garnered significant work experience in residential life and university development through positions at the College of William and Mary, Hamline University, the University of Connecticut, and the University of Eastern Illinois.
Mike Becir is the associate director for enrollment services at the University of British Columbia where he oversees student services and enrollment staff. He has been a key contributor to UBC’s redesign of the student services model which was recently presented and praised at the AACRAO SEM conference. Mike is an alum of UBC and previously served as the manager of enrollment services.
Denise became interested in the field of instructional design as an outgrowth of her online experiences—both as an educator and a student. Her desire to create varied learning environments that foster student/faculty growth and learning led her to UCF. She is now one of the instructional design team leads. Prior to coming to UCF from North Carolina, Denise maintained a private counseling agency after working for years as a counselor/supervisor in government and public agencies. This work included business consultations, seminar development, and educational materials development. She has also taught face-to-face and online courses in multiple disciplines over the years.
Marc Kastner joined the Department of Physics at MIT in 1973, where he became the Donner Professor of Science in the Department of Physics in 1989 and Dean of the School of Science in 2007. In 1993, he became director of the MIT Center for Materials Science and Engineering, which became the largest NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Center. In 1998 he left that position to become Head of the Physics Department.. As Dean, Marc was instrumental in securing the funding that led to the establishment of the new Simons Center for the Social Brain (a $26 million gift) as well as many new fellowships for graduate students, four new Faculty Chairs and support for research. His challenge is to support faculty and their research labs during this time of federal deficits and decline in government support for basic fundamental research. Elizabeth Chadis has been at MIT for over a decade working for Marc Kastner, first as his development officer for the department of physics and then as his assistant dean for development when he became dean of the school of science. Together they have raised millions of dollars for capital renovation projects, research , and endowment support for faculty and students with professorships and fellowships. Chadis spent five years in development at the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts where she solicited major gifts, created a “circle of friends” and worked on major events including “from all walks of life” the annual AIDS walk. She began her career in high-tech communications and advertising working first at Cahners Publishing and Prime Computer.
A proud and active alumnus of both Carleton University (BA in Political Science & Communication) and the University of British Columbia (MEd in Higher Education & Student Affairs), Darren has worked as a higher education professional for over seven years honing his skills in orientation, transition and leadership programming, alumni relations and, most recently, enrolment management. Darran’s previous experience saw him working in politics in Canada and the UK with Members of Parliament. Darran’s work and academic background reflects his focus on a client-centred environment in ensuring an outstanding stakeholder experience among our students and alumni, alike. Outside of Darran’s day-to-day, he is involved with a number of community based organizations with a focus on leadership development and mentorship among youth and engaging volunteerism among young and emerging professionals.
