In her current position with UNM Continuing Education, Leah is responsible for all the custom training and workforce development programming activities. She has been with UNMCE for 16 years and started its custom training program five years ago. 2009 was their most successful year. Prior to working on customer training, Leah held the position of IT Training Program Manager for open enrollment classes. She has a strong background in program design and development and holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Learning and Instructional Technology with an emphasis on Multimedia. She is also past president of the American Society of Training and Development in New Mexico.
In her current position, Amy works with some of Charlotte’s largest organizations on assessing and managing their specific workforce training needs. In her first three years in this position, she developed the office into a $1 million business. Prior to joining the Office of Continuing Education at UNC Charlotte, Amy was a lecturer in the Department of Management for the Belk College of Business and taught business courses at Central Piedmont Community College. Her experience also includes marketing and promotion strategies, sales forecasting, pricing, purchasing, team-building, budgeting, new products, and business development.
Jessica has overseen the design and management of Washington and Lee’s reunion gift program since 2006. Her multi-year method has expanded reunion giving by 54%. Before arriving in her current post, she held the same position at the University of Richmond and managed the parents program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She presents on this topic at conferences across the country and received a 2007 CASE Award of Excellence for the best total educational fund-raising program.
In his current position, Andy manages seven different allied health programs. Andy is retired from the Army and in his last military assignment he was director for managed care in the Army’s most densely populated region, the North Atlantic. Since leaving the military and just prior to joining Northern Virginia Community College, he worked to help facilitate change and business process improvement in various health care domains. Andy’s areas of expertise include economic analysis, business planning for medical product lines, organizing physician mix, managing ambulatory care, developing new medical programs, improving medical productivity, financial programming and analysis, requirements analysis, and change management. He holds an MHA from Baylor University and a Health Policy Fellowship from the Rand Corporation.
Emerson has served as the coordinator of the first-year experience program at CSUB since 2006. As the FYE coordinator, he has overseen the development of a comprehensive set of goals and objectives for the program, the development of an in-house first-year textbook, and the implementation of a common reader program. In addition, he has 20 years of experience in English at the university level. His current research and publications focus on creating greater connection and integration of both First-Year Experience and English programs with the academic library.
Sarah has been instrumental in developing the new position of first-year experience and outreach librarian at CSUB. She has worked to integrate the library and the teaching of research skills into more aspects of the campus, including athletics, transfer student programming and the First-Year Experience program. Sarah has taught dozens of one-shot library orientation sessions to undergraduate and graduate students and teaches library research skills labs to students taking English Composition every quarter. She has also been an instructor in the CSUB FYE program for the past two years.
Bill has extensive experience in higher education and the private sector, as well as in local and state government. Using his broad experience and a unique marketing perspective, he was able to transform a languishing adult degree program at Guilford College into a dramatically successful one, increasing total enrollments nearly 400% in just 5 years. Prior to joining Guilford as a faculty member in the business management department, Bill was a senior manager with Price Waterhouse where he worked in their higher education practice to complete state-wide reviews of college and university systems. Before that he worked on the evaluation of programs in three different state agencies.
Ryan directs work in Black & Veatch’s San Francisco office focusing on assessments of renewable, advanced, and distributed energy technologies. Ryan has participated in Black & Veatch assessments of more than 100 renewable energy projects and technologies since joining the company in the 1990s. His experience includes projects representing a wide variety of generation technologies including wind, biomass, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and ocean energy. He holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.
Douglas directs energy-focused consulting and design services for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. His 30 years of experience with Black & Veatch covers complex retrofit projects as well as new facilities, including projects for energy use and conservation, primary and standby power generation, cogeneration, mission critical facilities, central utility generation and distribution, and critical HVAC systems. Douglas also has experience in facilities design, including computer data centers, central utility plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, research laboratories, medical product/device manufacturing, micro-electronics wafer fabrication, and government facilities. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.
Tina coordinates a co-curricular leadership program and teaches a leadership course. She advises the Undergraduate Student Government and university funding board. In addition, Tina supervises several areas of student activities and programs.
