Larry is charged with directing the design and development of a wide range of faculty development services and systems. He has presented internationally on the topics of instructional design, multimedia development, faculty development issues, and instructional design for distance education. His current areas of research include the articulation of strategies, techniques, and methods that faculty can use to manage their online teaching workload and the definition of the core competencies required for online teaching success.
Linda launched the Portland Alumni Career Services program in fall 2008. Besides working with students and recent UO graduates to help them initiate job searches and form professional connections, Linda works to connect employed UO alumni to the career center to provide advice, share their knowledge, and identify potential employees. Linda just completed her term as a member of the UO Alumni Association Board of Directors and currently serves as a founding board member of WaterAfrica, a non-profit focused on raising awareness and funds for clean water in Africa.
Liz currently works as an independent social media and communications consultant, blogging about community management and social media strategy at adaptivateblog.com. Before her time at Adaptivate, she structured and directed a comprehensive social media program at THINK Global School, an international, independent secondary school whose students study full-time in a different international city every trimester. Liz has nearly a decade of experience working with social media and communications strategy, previously serving as the associate director of the Caltech Alumni Association. Her writing has been published in CASE Currents magazine, edSocialMedia, and in a chapter she co-authored for Alumni Relations: A Newcomer’s Guide to Success.
Paula has served the university in several capacities, including teaching online pedagogy courses to adjunct faculty. She has developed and delivered various faculty development workshops targeted to help faculty develop skills in areas such as workload management, online assessment strategies, and providing effective feedback.
Dr. Michelle Burcin currently serves as the director of Healthy Carolina. In this role, Michelle is responsible for collaborative development, promotion and assessment of a wide-ranging array of wellness programs and research at the University of South Carolina. More than nine years of experience in college health has prepared Michelle to develop Healthy Carolina as an initiative to enhance student learning; improve the recruitment, retention, and productivity of faculty and staff; and to be a catalyst for health research.
Holly Harring joined Healthy Carolina in 2007. She earned a BS in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University in 2005 and an MSPH in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior from the University of South Carolina. Holly is the Coordinator for Healthy Carolina and serves as the co-chair for the Healthy Carolina Task Force on Nutrition. Currently, Holly is pursuing a Ph.D in Public Health. Holly’s research interests are nutrition, college health, and sustainable living.
Bob Massa is responsible for electronic and print publications, college positioning, and marketing and public relations. Prior to assuming his position at Lafayette, Bob served as vice president for enrollment management and college relations at Dickinson College and dean of enrollment at Johns Hopkins University. He has published widely in books and journals in the field of college admissions and enrollment management and is active as an instructor and journal editor in national organizations for admissions and financial aid professionals.
Since Dr. Armenti’s arrival at California University in 1992, applications have increased by 90 percent, average SAT scores have increased by 95 points, FTE enrollments have increased by 30 percent, and four-year graduation rates have increased by 80 percent. Many new academic programs have been initiated, including Master of Social Work, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Multi-Media Technology, sports management, graphic design, computer engineering technology, criminal justice, and legal studies. Angelo’s leadership has led to other accomplishments as well, including the creation of an athletic hall of fame, completion of the college’s first capital campaign, adoption of a university bill of rights, formation of a new governance structure, introduction of a new general education curriculum, and construction of several new institutional buildings.
Before joining GBBN Architects, Dale served for 29 years at the University of Cincinnati (22 years as a cabinet officer). In addition to leading the traditional financing functions at UC, Dale was responsible for completing the 1989 campus master plan and played an integral role in 20 major building projects. Through a series of nonprofit corporations formed in collaboration with the neighborhood and business associations, Dale established an innovative community development program in the neighborhoods surrounding both UC campuses. This program has stimulated hundreds of millions of new investment in student housing, market housing, retail, and office development, all accomplished using various forms of public/private partnerships to creatively finance projects owned by private entities.
