Supervision Certificate Program - April 1 Cohort
This event has ended.
Learn effective strategies for supervision and gain practical tools to support your team in just 4 weeks.
Overview
All too often in higher education, individuals move into a supervisory role without the necessary tools and skills to be successful. Particularly in today’s challenging environments, effective supervision is key to building an equally effective culture where each individual can contribute to team success.
Join us online for a four-week bootcamp specifically designed for higher education supervisors who are new to their roles or looking to deepen their skills.
Who should attend?
This program is primarily designed for those managing professional and/or student staff. If you are new to your role or want to hone your existing supervisory skills and approaches, this course is for you.
Agenda
Week 1: Setting up the Supervisory Relationship
Starting: April 1, 2024
Format: On-Demand | Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours
The course begins with a session on how to better understand your supervisory style, articulate it to your direct reports as a means of setting up the relationship, and how you might adapt that style in line with your reports’ needs and what the situation calls for.
Week 2: Performance Management
Starting: April 8, 2024 | Live Session: April 12, 2024 (1:00 – 2:30 p.m. ET)
Format: On-Demand | Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours
This week’s emphasis on performance management consists of two trainings: 1) diagnosing employee performance issues, and 2) offering and receiving meaningful feedback. You’ll then have a chance to apply what you learned and dialogue with peers in an end-of-week live session.
Week 3: Managing Conflict
Starting: April 15, 2024
Format: On-Demand | Time Commitment: Approximately 1.5 hours
In this week’s course, you’ll learn about conflict styles, different types of conflict, how you can establish a team culture that views conflict as positive and productive, and how to continue pushing that culture shift ahead even when team conflicts arise.
Week 4: Growing, Motivating, and Retaining Your Staff
Starting: April 22, 2024 | Live Session: April 25, 2024 (1:00 – 2:30 p.m. ET)
