David led the development and implementation of SLCC’s ePortfolio requirement in its general education program. As director of general education and ePortfolio program, David is responsible for effective implementation of ePortfolio pedagogy in all general education courses and for using ePortfolios to assess student attainment of general education learning outcomes. Professor Hubert has developed three separate online political science courses. He has served as the director of SLCC’s Faculty Teaching and Learning Center and has led four different study abroad trips to London, England. In collaboration with colleagues, he has developed two different learning communities. He has served as a faculty member at the AAC&U’s Summer Institute on High-Impact Practices, and is a board member of the Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL).
Marianne is a Senior Director in the Office of Gift Planning and Leadership Giving with the University of Colorado. In her role, she primarily supports the fundraising efforts of the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Advancement team and assists donors and their advisors in considering and designing charitable giving plans as part of their personal financial and estate planning. She has formerly held gift planning positions at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Marianne graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1982 with a B.A. in Psychology and from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1985 with a Juris Doctorate. She has practiced law in Oklahoma and Colorado in the areas of bankruptcy, civil litigation, wills/trusts/probate, family law, contracts, and business formation. Marianne is a member of the Colorado and El Paso County Bar Associations and a section member of the Elder Law and Trust & Estates committees. She belongs to the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable (former board member), the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, the American Council on Gift Annuities and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Emily is currently an instructor and manager of online, full-time faculty for the College of Education at Grand Canyon University and has presented at a number of regional, national, and international level conferences. She completed her BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and her Master of Education: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Grand Canyon University. She is currently working on her PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in cognition and Instruction from Grand Canyon University with an expected graduation date in the spring of 2015.
Rick Holbeck has been in education for twenty years, at all levels, from kindergarten to higher education. In addition to being the director of Online Full-Time Faculty at Grand Canyon University, he teaches courses for the College of Education. Rick has presented at several regional, national, and international conferences where the focus has been on classroom assessment techniques, technology, and hybrid peer review for journal publication. He is also currently the guest editor for the next volume of the Journal of Instructional Research.
Todd Rentz is one of the founding members of Ho’ā (“to ignite” in Hawaiian), the University of Hawaii Community College (UHCC) statewide student success coaching program. By using a solution-focused/cognitive behavioral perspective, Todd strives to deepen the student’s commitment to their educational goals by instilling confidence, encouraging hope, and providing help for them to become self-directed learners as they continue their academic journey. Along with his direct work with students, Todd is a guest member of the Queen Kapi’olani Student Success Committee and is developing training programs for peer mentor and volunteer faculty coaching facilitated on all seven UHCC campuses.
In this newly created senior administrator position, Justin works to bring together the libraries and information technology departments in effective and efficient ways to strategically keep pace with the evolving needs of the St. Lawrence students, faculty, and staff. Prior to his current role Justin was the Chief Technology Officer at Skidmore College. As the top information technology executive at Skidmore, Justin was responsible for facilitating strategic leadership for the information technology division, which included all aspects of institutional computing services, voice/video/data networking, multimedia services, and telephony. While at Skidmore Justin partnered with the college librarian proposing and executing a multi-million dollar renovation of the library including additional student study and collaboration spaces, more instructional spaces, remapping the collection, and bringing into the building appropriate resource to support the academic mission. Justin is on the Board of Directors of EDUCAUSE as well as NYSERNet.org. He has consulted at numerous institutions and presented at state and national events over the past fifteen years. He recently served as the faculty director of the EDUCAUSE Management Institute.
Ben is very passionate about the role Appreciative Advising plays in the relationship between a student and advisor. He is an advocate of technology in advising and the positive relationship effects, specifically the use of virtual advising, mass communication, social media, and automated systems. Combining these two practices has enabled Ben to connect with his students in a deeper, more meaningful and intentional method. His incorporation of technology stems from his undergraduate work in Visual Communication Technology. Further, most technology innovations typically require a certain level of expertise and funding. Ben possesses the ability to find inexpensive and simple ways to implement technology, that you can start implementing immediately on your campus. Ben currently serves as the Director of Student Affairs for The Patton College of Education at Ohio University. In this role, he supervises six professional academic advisors, who utilize Appreciative Advising as their advising philosophy. He is responsible for many college initiatives, rooted in Appreciative Advising, which focus on recruitment and retention. Dr. Whisenhunt is a Professor of psychology at Missouri State University. From 2011 until 2013, she was a member of the introductory psychology redesign team at Missouri State University as part of a statewide mission in course redesign through the National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT). During that timeframe, the redesign team transformed introductory psychology at Missouri State University into a blended course and demonstrated significant improvements in learning outcomes. The results of this project were recently published in Psychology Learning and Teaching. Since the completion of the redesign project, Dr. Whisenhunt has been serving as a Missouri Learning Commons Scholar to assist other institutions in the state implement redesign projects. She is also a National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT) Redesign Scholar.

In her current roles, Pam heads a division that includes the A. Frank Smith Jr. Library and information technology services. Prior to arriving at Southwestern in 2012, she held a similar position at Occidental College. Over the past thirty years, Pam has held senior positions in higher education at California State University, The University of Texas at Austin, St. Edward’s University, and the University of North Carolina. She also has worked for Apple Computer in Cupertino and was an editor with McGraw-Hill for BYTE and Popular Computing magazines. Previously she served as the director of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute and as a member of the Campus Technology advisory board, the CT Innovators review board and is a Frye Leadership Institute Fellow (2000). Pam’s ongoing interests at the intersection of information, communication, media, and technology continue to animate her professional life.
