Irma leads the University of South Carolina’s efforts to support students in integrating learning within and beyond the classroom through the university’s signature learning initiative, USC Connect. A key component of this initiative is the opportunity for students to graduate with leadership distinction by meeting experiential and integrative learning criteria as reflected in their required ePortfolios. As the former associate dean for academic and student affairs of the College of Education, Irma led efforts for the university’s recognition by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education in meeting clinical experience standards at the highest (target) level. She is also integrally involved in coordinating work for the university’s continuing recognition by the Carnegie Foundation as a Community Engaged University. Irma’s PhD is from Syracuse University in teaching and curriculum. She has twenty-six published articles, has been invited to speak at twenty-five presentations/keynotes, and has presented over fifty refereed papers at conferences such as the American Educational Research Association, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and Rejuvenating Schools through Partnerships [in Hong Kong]. Cynthia’s responsibilities include coordinating the undergraduate experience across the university’s four undergraduate schools and colleges, upholding the university’s academic policies, and working to enhance the student experience. She also facilitates the university’s online initiatives, including Coursera, and supervises the Vanderbilt Institute for Digital Learning. Cynthia joined the Vanderbilt University faculty in 1994 and currently is professor of musicology at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music, where she also served as associate dean of the collegiate program from 2004-2010.
Dr. Mancini has led the undergraduate nursing program through the implementation of its innovative and successful online Academic Partnership program. She also managed the preparation and execution of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offering that the UTA nursing program has released. Mary has more than 90 publications to her credit and is a sought after speaker at local, national, and international conferences on such topics as innovations in health professions education and the transformative redesign of education. Dr. Mancini received a BSN from Rhode Island College, a Masters in Nursing Administration from The University of Rhode Island, and a PhD in Public and Urban Affairs from The University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to moving to an academic role in 2004, Dr. Mancini held progressive management positions in the service sector including 18 years as Senior Vice President for Nursing Administration and Chief Nursing Officer.
For nearly two decades, Neil Calfee has demonstrated his expertise and experience in the cultivation and management of complex development projects, involving partnerships between government entities and the private sector. Whether located downtown or the heart of campus, these projects have dramatically changed their environments and served as catalysts for new growth and revitalization within the community. Neil is currently the principal of the Calfee Group, a company specializing in the creation and negotiation of public/private partnerships, serving both of these sectors. He previously served as the director of real estate development for Arizona State University, and prior to that as the redevelopment and revitalization manager for the city of Tempe in Arizona.
Ms. Newell is responsible for coordinating legal matters, responding to federal and state audits and investigations, and developing and implementing post-issuance tax compliance policies and procedures including arbitrage, rebate, record keeping, and private business use issues. Prior to joining the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority in 2005, she was engaged in the private practice of law primarily as bond counsel and underwriters’ counsel on numerous issues for governmental entities for a broad range of financing structures. As an appointee of the U.S. Treasury Department, Ms. Newell is currently serving a three-year term on the IRS’s Advisory Committee on Tax-Exempt and Governmental Entities and was elected vice-chair of the Advisory Committee in March 2013. She is a member of the debt committee of the Government Finance Officers Association, and as a GFOA member, she participated with the National Association of Bond Lawyers in the development of the NABL/GFOA Post Issuance Compliance Checklist. She recently completed a three-year term as chair of the Educational Facilities Panel for the annual Bond Attorneys’ Workshop, sponsored by the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
Mark Grambergs is a vice president of real estate development for EdR with more than 25 years’ experience in commercial mixed-use development. He is EdR’s development lead on the transformation of the University of Kentucky’s student housing program, which will redevelop up to 9,000 beds on Kentucky’s campus over five years at an investment of approximately $500 million. He came to EdR in 2010 from a career in the retail development world that comprised more than 5 million square feet of commercial space valued at more than $1 billion. He has served as a real estate attorney for JC Penny, and as a development vice president and partner at CBL & Associates and Poag & McEwen, respectively. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law and received his B.A. from Georgia State University.
Mr. Wilson is responsible for overseeing day-to-day details of the entire development process for collegiate housing facilities, including projects for clients and EdR’s own portfolio. He is the primary point of contact between the client and all other development team members. Mr. Wilson is directly responsible for evaluating market demand, working with operations to prepare operating pro formas and working with the architect and contractor in concert with the university to design the project to meet the needs of the students and the school officials. Mr. Wilson also works with the appointed investment bankers or financier to provide needed input to arrange project financing. Upon the bond and/or financing closing, Mr. Wilson helps oversee the construction process, coordinating with Wally Wilcox, senior vice president of construction, to ensure a smooth transition of the completed property to EdR’s operations department.
Dara creates and implements comprehensive, university-wide marketing and stewardship plans for planned giving prospects and donors across colleges and central advancement through the use of strategic messaging and media. With more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit marketing and communications, Dara focused on establishing strategic partnerships, campaign development, and fundraising in her previous roles at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She is a member of the Planned Giving Group of New England, the American Marketing Association, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Stephanie joined the Notre Dame Alumni Association as the Young Alumni Program Manage and engaged 20,000+ young alumni (graduates of the past ten years) through creative marketing, original programming, and events enhancements. She was promoted to the position of Director of Special Events within the Notre Dame Alumni Association, charged with engaging the entire 132,000+ alumni population. Stephanie then transitioned into a newly created role in the Notre Dame Career Center serving as the Student-Athlete Career Program Director.
