As the director of support and safety assessment at Colorado State University, Dwight coordinates systems to address people who become a threat to the welfare and safety of others and the institution. Part of this process involves coordinating two teams that focus on support needs and threat assessment for students and employees. Prior to his current role, Dwight spent twenty-three years in law enforcement where he developed strong community relationships working with high-risk populations including substance abusers and people with mental health issues. He is certified in Mediation, Workplace Mediation, and Arbitration.
In Jamie’s position at VFMAC, he is responsible for the development and direction of the institution’s overall recruiting, retention, and marketing functions for the Academy and the College. Included in this is development and oversight of day-to-day operations within enrollment management, and shaping the strategic direction of the office and developing long-range goals and operational processes. Jamie’s background spans both public and private higher education institutions. Prior to Valley Forge, he worked at Montclair State University as the Associate Dean of Extended Learning and Special Academic Programs where he was responsible for the marketing, recruitment, and management of online programs, summer and winter sessions, and K-12 pipeline programs. Prior to that he served as Dean of Academic Operations,and Associate Dean of Business and Computer Information Systems Programs at DeVry University. Jamie is passionate about data analysis and marketing and enjoys marrying the two interests to analyze yield and maximize program exposure, awareness, and student engagement. He collects and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to identify key opportunities to better address student needs and strategic institutional goals.
As president and chief operating officer of CampusGuard, Mr. King is responsible for the strategic vision, growth, and business operations of the company, which is focused on assisting colleges and universities in achieving their PCI compliance and other security-related objectives. He has served in multiple capacities for more than twenty-five years in support of higher education information and network systems, including the past ten years supporting ecommerce initiatives and related payment card processing issues. Mr. King is a Certified Payment-Card Industry Security Manager.
Bev has been a member of the Michigan State Bar since 2004. She currently serves as the Director of Compliance/Title IX Coordinator at the University of Hawaii West Oahu campus. An alumna of UH Manoa and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, she was previously employed at a mid-sized, urban public commuter college with 20,000+ students. Since 2005, she has worked in various areas in higher education, including but not limited to: Labor Relations, Executive leadership, Adjunct Faculty, Compliance, Student Affairs and Title IX. She has extensive experience in the development and implementation of key compliance areas such as training, investigations, programming/awareness events, process reviews, and case management. Bev is also highly involved in the Hawaii state threat assessment efforts. She serves as the current Chair of Threat Team Hawaii (TTH) and as a member of the TTH Consult Group; is a US Department of Homeland Security, NTER Certified Master Trainer; and is the Principal Investigator for two US Department of Homeland Security Targeted Violence and Threat Prevention (TVTP) grants totaling over $1.3 million dollars to build and sustain threat prevention efforts in the state. Stacey oversees a vibrant peer mentoring program designed to create a seamless and holistic transitional experience for new and transfer students. She has experience working with orientation, freshman seminar, first-year reading programs, parent and family programs, large scale programming, leadership initiatives, enrollment management, and living-learning communities. Stacey earned her master’s degree in community and college counseling from Longwood University. She is especially interested in the impact of parents and families on the transitional experience of new students.
Betsy is the founding dean of the Core Division at Champlain College, where she oversees the ongoing development and implementation of an integrative, interdisciplinary general education curriculum. A scholar of African American women’s literature, she taught African American studies, women’s studies, and food studies, sometimes simultaneously, and worked in the areas of first-year experience and learning communities prior to arriving at Champlain and assuming the deanship.
In her position, Helen’s responsibilities include oversight of university academic program policy and procedures, accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and compliance with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education regulations. She oversees the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment. She is also responsible for general education, the First-Year Reading Experience, and the new integrated learning initiative, USC Connect, to enhance learning within and beyond the classroom. She works with the residential colleges, the Carolina Leadership Initiative, the Office of Fellowship and Scholars Programs, the University Advisors Network, and other programs to enrich undergraduate studies. Helen is a recipient of USC’s Michael J. Mungo Award for teaching excellence, and has published numerous scholarly articles and co-authored a textbook. She has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Risk and Insurance and is a past president of the American Risk and Insurance Association.
Yves is an experienced assessment specialist, and program evaluator. As the chair of the Portland State Institutional Assessment Council, he led a campus wide initiative to develop campus learning outcomes and to bolster campus-wide assessment. As part of its general education program, Portland State now offers and assesses hundreds of capstone projects, all with a civic engagement component. A social psychologist by training, Yves is an associate professor. Yves was awarded a grant to lead a campus wide initiative on Making Learning Visible: an ePortfolio Initiative to Transform Learning and Assessment at Portland State University through The Provost’s Challenge—reTHINK PSU.
Darby began her current position after being promoted from associate director, assistant director, assessment coordinator, and graduate assistant in the same department. Before joining student life studies, she worked as an area coordinator in the Texas A&M Department of Residence Life and as a hall director at the University of Tennessee. Darby is well known for her extensive professional involvement in NASPA’s Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Knowledge Community, serving as assessment column editor for NASPA’s NetResults, and co-editing Learning is Not a Sprint, a NASPA book published in June 2012. Darby frequently presents at national conferences.
Julie is responsible for overseeing all on-campus development for EdR’s public private partnerships (P3) including third-party structures and equity investment under EdR’s ONE Plan. Julie has focused her career on creating innovative partnerships to support the development of dynamic student life environments driven by institutional objectives. She came to EdR in 2013 with 15 years of higher education planning and implementation experience at Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), the University of Cincinnati and Turner Construction. She has managed the planning and implementation of more than 100 student life facilities on more than 50 campuses resulting in over $2 billion in development. Julie received her B.A. in architecture from the University of Cincinnati. She is an Ohio‐registered architect and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional, and is an active member of The Society for College and University Planning, The Association of College and University Housing Officers-International, The National Association of College Auxiliary Services and The National Association of College and University Business Officers.
