Liz focuses her practice in the areas of health, business, and education law where she specializes in providing risk management, contracting, and liability advice. Liz has particular expertise in e-health, biotech, and telemedicine issues along with higher education student health and safety matters. She previously served as vice president and legal counsel to Analysis Group, Inc., an economic and strategic consulting firm, providing legal representation in all aspects of the company’s business. Liz is a frequent speaker at healthcare and higher education industry seminars across the country.
Stu joined MIT’s admissions office in 2002 and was appointed dean in 2008. Stu has been honored with the MIT Dean for Undergraduate Education Infinite Mile Award for Leadership and the MIT Alumni Association Harold E. Lobdell ‘17 Distinguished Service Award, and he was named Coach of the Year in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges, the most competitive rowing league in the country. Stu has been a speaker at admissions conferences around the world and has served as trustee, founder, or advisor to a variety of organizations, including the College Board, University of Cambridge International Examinations, Wayland-Weston Rowing Association, To The Water, Inc., and the Mandela Town Hall Health Spot.
At Rhode Island School of Design, Raj oversees health services, counseling services, residential life, student programs and leadership development, multicultural affairs, career services, the registrar’s office, and academic advisement. Prior to RISD, Raj worked at Colgate University for eight years, where he held a variety of academic and student-affairs positions, including assistant dean of multicultural affairs, dean of the sophomore-year experience, and associate dean of academic initiatives. Before his tenure at Colgate, he established a strong foundation in student affairs through his work at both the College of the Holy Cross and Wesleyan University.
Roger joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and retired from military service at age 39. With 22 years of military service and extensive study in the area of trauma as it relates to war and other violent experiences, Roger has the experience as well as the professional training to work with traumatized people. Today, he actively participates in critical incident stress services for police, fire, and EMT first responders as well as trauma program development for the state of Ohio and is actively developing support system for veterans and their spouses at Hocking College.
With 15 years of experience creating or nurturing environmental and sustainability programs on college campuses and within their surrounding communities, Angela is engaged with the development and provision of Furman’s new interdisciplinary sustainability science major. She coordinates several curricular and co-curricular programs related to sustainability on campus and in the local community, and provides ongoing Andrew W. Mellon Foundation-funded workshops for faculty to infuse sustainability concepts into existing courses. Angela also co-coordinates Furman’s Sustainability Planning Council, chairs The Duke Endowment Task Force on Sustainability, is an appointed member of the City of Greenville’s Green Ribbon Advisory Committee, and serves on several boards of local and national conservation and community organizations. development at the Public Relations Summit of the Independent Colleges of Indiana.
As the director of sustainability integration at Middlebury College, Jack coordinates Middlebury’s effort to achieve carbon neutrality by 2016. Jack’s prior career has been in the non-governmental sector starting and developing organizations that support local, national, and international initiatives in soil and water conservation; watershed health; citizen science; and building capacity to integrate sustainability knowledge and skills in public schools, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. He has led the development of learning networks and communities on a variety of topics. He is a co-founder of Foundation for Our Future. He founded and directed the River Watch Network. He currently serves as green campus leader for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s Commission on Education and Communication.
At Northern Arizona University, Blase recently led an initiative to establish student learning outcomes on environmental sustainability, diversity education, and global engagement in all 98 of NAU’s undergraduate programs. Blase has also co-chaired first-year curricular and liberal education reform initiatives on campus. He is an associate professor of historical musicology in NAU’s School of Music.
Thom oversees the processing of 10 million pieces of incoming mail, 5.5 million pieces of outbound mail, and inbound/outbound shipping of more than 500,000 packages annually. In 1999, Thom managed the merging of BYU’s print and copy services with the campus mail services, and he now oversees both operations. Thom is a Certified Mail and Distributions Systems Manager (CMDSM), and has received the USPS’s Industry Excellence Awards for Nonprofits and the USPS’s Mail Center Manager Award. He is a past president and a long-standing board member of the National Association of College & University Mail Services (NACUMS) and is currently president-elect.
Faramarz Vakili is the director of campus sustainability operations and the associate director of the Physical Plant Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His responsibilities include overseeing facilities maintenance, in-house remodeling, utilities generation and distribution, fleet management, and sustainability operations on a campus of 300 buildings and over 20 million gross square feet of instructional and research space. He is also the director of UW-Madison’s WE CONSERVE environmental stewardship initiative, which exceeded its original goal of reducing the university’s energy consumption and eco-footprint by 20 percent per square foot by year 2010. Faramarz serves as a faculty member for the APPA Institute for Facilities Management. During his career, he has developed and implemented a number of progressive and innovative facilities management and energy conservation programs. In recognition of his accomplishments, he received the United States Energy Association’s 2004 Energy Leadership Public Award. Faramarz is also the recipient of the UW-Madison 2010 Wisconsin Alumni Associate Award for Excellence in Leadership for the University Community.
