Mike Barzacchini

“Only solutions.” That’s just one of Mike’s #marketingmantras developed during 27-years as a professional communicator, including 19 years leading the Marketing Services Department at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. Mike launched Harper’s first branding campaign and leads the College’s integrated marketing, web, and social media initiatives. Mike presents nationally and regionally at CASE, NCMPR and other higher ed conferences and workshops. He has also served on faculty for the CASE Summer Institute in Communications and Marketing for the past five years, chairing the institute in 2019.

Elizabeth Scarborough

Elizabeth is a nationally recognized expert in the use of research to drive marketing and branding efforts. With twenty-one years of experience conducting market research studies, she is an industry leader in providing strategic solutions to colleges and universities. She is an expert in survey instrument design, sampling plan development, data analysis, and the compilation and presentation of marketing intelligence. Elizabeth has chaired the American Marketing Association’s Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education since 2007. She has presented more than 200 workshops and papers at a veritable alphabet soup of higher education-related conferences and symposia, including NACAC, NAGAP, AMA, AGB, NAICU, AACRAO, PCACAC, SACAC, and NYSACAC.

Gene Deisinger, Ph.D.

Gene Deisinger is a licensed psychologist, a certified health service provider in psychology, and a certified peace officer. He currently serves as the associate director of public safety and deputy chief of police with the Iowa State University Police Division. Gene is responsible for assessing and managing threats against persons, managing and conducting criminal investigations, managing dignitary protection services, and providing crisis intervention & negotiation services for several central Iowa law enforcement agencies. Gene was a founding member of the Iowa State University Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). This multi-disciplinary team serves as a pro-active planning group and coordinates institutional responses during crisis situations. Dr. Deisinger has served as the primary threat manager for CIRT since the team’s inception in 1994. He has provided consultation and training to numerous colleges and universities across the United States and been an invited presenter for several national organizations. Dr. Deisinger is co-author of the recently released Handbook for Campus Threat Assessment & Management Teams, a practical resource designed specifically for institutions of higher education.

Aaron Brower

As provost and vice chancellor, Dr. Brower provides strategic and operational leadership as UW-Extension’s chief academic officer. He oversees its four major divisions (Continuing Education and Online Learning, Public Radio and Television, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Cooperative Extension), provides administrative support for business and finance, and develops and supports collaborative programs between UW-Extension and all other University of Wisconsin System institutions. Dr. Brower helped create, and continues to lead, the UW Flexible Option – the competency-based educational program for the UW System and state of Wisconsin. UW Flex is the first-in-the-country program that provides students a way to receive degrees and certificates through competency-based and direct-assessment methods from existing public institutions.

Mark L. Parker, Ph.D.

In addition to his duties as Associate Professor and Chair, Mark is responsible for the College’s online bachelor’s degree completion programs, as well as the online graduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning, and all non-degree continuing education courses and programs. He also oversees the College’s quality control initiatives for online courses and the faculty training and development activities. Prior to joining Norwich University in 2013, he worked at University of Maryland University College, where he served in a variety of roles, including Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs, in which he made major contributions to the development and quality of UMUC’s pioneering worldwide online delivery program. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His area of specialization is technology-mediated communication in education and the workplace. He is a frequent conference presenter on the topic of the success and retention of online students in higher education. D. Scott Peters

With more than 20 years of annual giving experience at both large public and small private institutions, Scott currently manages a staff of 14 with an eye toward performance tracking to improve Richmond’s fundraising efforts. Starting his advancement career at West Virginia Wesleyan College, he went on to manage successful annual giving programs at Eastern Kentucky University, Pomona College, and, most recently, Valparaiso University. Scott has presented at both regional and national events across the country.
