Donor-Centric Stewardship: A Partnership with Annual Giving and Donor Relations
This event has ended.
Inspire donors to give and engage in new ways by developing a well-thought-out stewardship plan.
Overview
It is no surprise that advancement shops are experiencing increasingly greater external philanthropic competition, which can lead to declining donor interest and investment in your institution over time. Therefore, it is imperative that annual giving staff consider revising or updating their donor acquisition and retention strategies to better serve the changing needs and desires of their donors. Having a well-defined stewardship plan for annual giving donors not only sustains your donor interest, it also creates an opportunity for internal collaboration that may not have existed before.
The annual giving and donor relations staff at Old Dominion University (ODU) identified and seized upon such an opportunity. They came together to consolidate their stewardship efforts, and as a result, they have:
- Significantly improved the overall communication outreach efforts of their annual giving donors.
- Retained their annual giving donors.
- Identified new giving opportunities that did not exist prior to this collaborative effort.
Join us at this online event to hear how these two teams came together and to learn how you can collaborate in similar ways on your own campus.
Who should attend?
If you’re an annual giving or donor relations professional, manager, or director who wants to better understand the changing alumni and/or donor landscape to inform your stewardship strategy and improve your donor acquisition and retention efforts, this online event is for you.
Agenda
Why Stewardship Matters and ODU’s Stewardship Strategy
Our speakers will share the positive impact a well-thought plan can have on your shop. They will also share a few common roadblocks associated with setting up a stewardship plan, such as data cleaning, partnerships, processes, and procedures, which may hinder or slow down this effort. Our speakers will then showcase how their two areas came together to develop their own stewardship strategy.
Formalizing a Similar Partnership for your Shop
The second half of this event will identify the steps our speakers took to establish the partnership, the lessons learned, and the successes it yielded. You’ll see real examples from this effort that helped them to sustain donor interest and investment. Participants will learn how to scope and scale this effort for your own alumni/donor stewardship plan—including how to work with limited staffing and financial resources.
