Annie Munson, PhD

Annie started out her career with the goal of becoming the next Barbara Walters. However, the twists and turns of her career path guided Annie from Television news to public relations, then to software training, and finally, to a university professor and administrator. As a speaker and coach, she uses her experience and expertise to help people navigate a career path to their next level of success. 

Her approach to coaching is centered on the philosophy that you already possess what you need to be successful. Sometimes, you simply need assistance figuring out where you want to go and how to get there. Through collaborative interactions, Annie helps you uncover and gain clarity about your strengths, areas of growth, core values, motivation and vision for your future. 

Annie’s authentic and humorous approach makes people feel an instant connection to her. She has guided clients in all career levels through strategic career development, job search planning, resume writing, interview preparation, negotiation, leadership evolution, successful supervising, public speaking, and professional branding.

With over 20 years of service in higher education as both a professor and an administrator, Annie has held leadership positions in student affairs and academic affairs and taught in the areas of Higher Education Administration, Communication Studies and Radio/TV News. Prior to her career in higher education, Annie worked in television news, public relations, and software training. She draws on her education and expertise to assist her clients in achieving their goals.

If there is an adventure to be had, Annie is the first in line. She has traveled to 21 countries, hiked 60 miles to visit Machu Picchu, camped on top of a volcano in Guatemala, and gone white water rafting down the Zambezi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia. She loves telling stories and hearing about the stories that have shaped others into who they are. Annie has the keen ability to find joy and gratitude in every situation. 

Annie is a certified Gallup Clifton Strengths Coach and an International Association of Professions Career Coach. Annie holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a Master’s in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas, as well as, a Bachelor’s in Radio/TV Communication from Angelo State University.  In addition to coaching, she serves as the Executive Director for International Affairs at Texas Woman’s University.
